Though she plays a true-blue American Marine investigator on CBS's J.A.G., Catherine Bell is actually London-born. But when her parents, Peter, an architect, and Mina, a nurse, divorced when Catherine was a toddler, she and her mother settled in Los Angeles, CA. A self-described "geek," Bell thrived in math and biology in school, and in junior high once programmed a computer video game. She entered UCLA with the intention of being a pre-med major, but in her sophomore year found herself at a crossroads. Several months after that guest spot, Bell heard that the producers of J.A.G. were looking for a new female lead for the show. So she crossed her fingers and wrote a letter to executive producer Donald P. Bellisario, declaring her suitability for the role of Maj. Sarah "Mac" MacKenzie.

Intrigued, Bellisario decided to take a gamble, and Bell won the part. Her chemistry with male lead David James Elliot, who plays Lt. Cmdr. Harmon "Harm" Rabb, ensured that the show, which had been struggling in the ratings, would thrive on a new network. J.A.G. now holds a steady position in Nielsen's Top 20.

Her role on J.A.G. allows Bell to showcase her athletic skills - she's been kickboxing for over 10 years, and knows her way around a shooting range. In her off-camera time, her tomboyish nature comes to the fore when she throws herself into snow boarding, riding motorcycles, wake boarding, and other extreme sports.

Actress Cate Blanchett, 38, and husband Andrew Upton, 41, have welcomed their third son. Ignatius Martin Upton was born on Sunday, April 13th in Sydney, Australia. The Australian media reported a weight of 7 lbs, 9 oz, while Us Weekly says 8 lbs, 6 oz.

Ignatius joins big brothers Dashiell John, 6, and Roman Robert, who turns 4 on April 23rd. A spokesperson said,All are well and very happy.

Cate confirmed the pregnancy, after much speculation, in November. In February, she revealed the sex of the baby in a comment made at the Oscars. We are unsure what her due date was, but as of April 11th, Cate had shared that she was overdue.

After being shafted by her mother over her inheritance, Tori Spelling is developing a huge new rack and a reality TV series where she and new husband Dean McDermott would run a bed and breakfast in California:

    In the show, the former Beverly Hills, 90210 star would take the $800,000 inheritance she received after her father Aaron’s death in June and invest it in an inn where they would live and rent rooms to tourists. A representative for the star tells American publication Us Weekly, “They are pitching a reality show, but we will not comment on any of the details.” A source close to the actress adds that Spelling 33, four months pregnant with their first child, and MCDermott, 40, are looking at property in Temecula, California.

$800,000 seems like a pretty sweet inheritance—it certainly beats out the Hot Wheels collection I got coming to me when my parents kick the bucket—until you realize Tori’s father was worth billions. Ouch—though that doesn’t protect her from my merciful criticism for pitching the most boring reality show idea ever. Why not just have a show about me reading a book or maybe even sleeping? We’ll save those shots of me getting up in the middle of night to take a piss for sweeps week!

She founded and runs Love Spell Entertainment (her own production company!). Love sent 3 dozen pink roses along with a 2-page letter to Gwyneth Paltrow the night before Paltrow won the Oscar in 1999. Paltrow sent a reply a week later, and Love framed it "it's my favorite thing".
